Can Adults Learn to Read the Quran?

Yes. Adults of any age can learn to read the Quran, and most adult beginners finish Noorani Qaida in 2 to 4 months with 3 to 5 short classes a week. Adults often move faster than children: you understand patterns quickly, you practise with purpose and you can ask exactly what you need.

Read our guide to learning to read the Quran as an adult for a step-by-step plan and answers to common worries.

Private Lessons, at Your Own Pace

Every class is one-on-one, so nobody else is listening. You can repeat a sound as many times as you need, ask questions you might feel shy about in a group, and move faster through the parts you find easy. Your teacher adapts each lesson to your goals and your pace.

Fits Around Work and Family

Choose classes before work, in a lunch break, in the evening or at the weekend, in your own time zone. If work gets in the way, tell us in advance and we will try to arrange a make-up class. A steady routine of short classes, plus 10 to 15 minutes of reading on your own each day, brings the fastest progress.

New to Islam?

New Muslims are very welcome. You can start from the first Arabic letter with Noorani Qaida, learn wudu and Salah step by step in our Dua & Namaz course, and ask your teacher anything along the way, at whatever pace feels right.

Learn Alongside Your Children

Many parents decide to learn while their children are learning. Each family member can have their own teacher and class times, and sibling discounts are available for children. See our online Quran classes for kids.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Is it too late to learn the Quran at 40, 50 or 60?

No. Adults of every age learn to read the Quran. Start with Noorani Qaida, keep a steady routine of short classes, and you will be reading Quranic words within weeks.

2. How many classes a week should an adult take?

Three to five 30-minute classes a week, plus 10 to 15 minutes of daily practice, works well for most adults. If your schedule is tight, two classes a week is a good start.

3. Can I learn if I do not know any Arabic?

Yes. Noorani Qaida starts from the very first letter and assumes no Arabic at all. Lessons are explained in English, Urdu or Arabic.

4. Can I choose a male or female teacher?

Yes. You can choose either, and all teachers are background-checked. Sisters can read more on our page for online Quran classes for ladies.

5. What if I miss a class because of work?

If you let us know in advance, we will try to arrange a make-up class depending on teacher availability. See our make-up classes policy.
